Do you own a business in the Florida Keys? Depending on the kind of business, you might be able to do contract work for the state. In order to do business with the State of Florida, you will have to create a vendor account. You can create a vendor account using the MFMP Vendor Information Portal (VIP). Registration isn’t difficult, but you will need to provide a few things.

MFMP Vendor Information Portal

MFMP stands for “MyFloridaMarketPlace.” The MFMP is the eProcurement system for the State of Florida. The system streamlines things between vendors and all Florida state agencies and entities that purchase commodities and services. The online portal is user-friendly. It’s where you go to check on upcoming bids, place a bid and post information on products and services. It’s where you will receive electronic purchase order if you are chosen as a vendor for the state.
In order to create a vendor account in the MFMP Vendor Information Portal (VIP), they will need you to give them your company name, not just your name. They will need to know your Federal Tax ID number and your tax filing name. So, if you own a DBA also known as operating a business under a fictitious name, they will need to know that you file taxes under your own name. They also want to know your business location. You will have to register the commodities and services you offer.

Certified Business Enterprise Status

They will also ask for your Certified Business Enterprise Status. (Florida allows you to get a Certified Business Status, also known as a “CBE,” and this benefits many people. You can certify your business in the following categories if you qualify:

  • Woman-owned enterprise
  • Veteran-owned enterprise
  • minority-owned enterprise

These certifications increase your visibility within agencies in the State of Florida as a vendor. The CBE can give you a competitive advantage.
