Leasing Commercial Buildings In Monroe County: Business Taxes

If you’re planning to lease a commercial building in Monroe County in which to operate a business, you’ll need to understand Monroe County business taxes and permits. If you wish to provide merchandise or services to the public, you will need to know this information.  Even if you have no employees, and even if you only travel into Monroe County to provide services, you will need to pay business taxes and obtain a permit. In some cases, depending on the functions of the business, you may be required to pay more than one local business tax too. It’s important to know all of the hoops you’ll need to jump through in order to operate a business in Monroe County before signing a lease on commercial property in Monroe County.

Before Monroe County Will Issue You A Permit To Operate

Before you can operate a business legally in Monroe County, you must meet all local, state, and federal regulations relating to your business.

Additionally, in Monroe County, if your business will be located within a city limit, you will need to pay both a county tax fee and a municipal license fee to operate.

Fees vary and depend on the nature of the business.
