If you have been asked to bring a passing dish to a holiday party, then there are lots of possibilities, but here are some favorites.
Hot Chocolate Dump Cake
1 stick butter
1 box chocolate cake mix
1 box instant chocolate pudding mix
1 ½ cup milk
Place butter in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Place dish in the oven. Turn oven to 350 degrees. Let the butter melt.
Remove pan from the oven. Use a pastry brush to coat the bottom and sides of the pan with melted butter.
Dump cake mix over butter. Spread to make an even layer.
Dump pudding mix over cake mix. Spread to make an even layer.
Drizzle milk over dry ingredients. Use a spoon to get as much of the milk incorporated into the dry layers as possible, but do not mix layers.
Return pan to oven. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until soft set.
Remove pan from the oven. Toss marshmallows on top of hot cake.
10 jalapeno peppers
4 ounces cream cheese
3 drops Tabasco
2 drops liquid smoke
20 little smokies
10 slices bacon
Cut jalapenos in half lengthways. Remove the seeds.
Cream together the cream cheese, Tabasco, and liquid smoke.
Put a dab of the mixture in each hollowed-out jalapeno.
Put a little smokie in the middle of the cream cheese mixture.
Cut the bacon in half. Wrap a half slice of bacon around each jalapeno. Hold in place with a toothpick.
Place on pan and bake in a 425-degree preheated oven until the bacon is done.
Spicy Macaroni and Cheese
16 ounces elbow macaroni
4 jalapeno peppers
2 tablespoons butter
16 ounces Velveeta cheese
1 sleeve crushed snack crackers
Dice all cheese into small pieces. Cut jalapeno in half and remove seeds. Dice into small pieces.
Cook elbow macaroni until al dente in a big pot of water. Drain in a colander.
Put macaroni in a pan on the stove. Add the cheeses, butter and jalapenos. Cook stirring constantly until cheeses have melted.
Transfer macaroni mixture to an ovenproof dish. Cover with crushed snack crackers. Bake for 10 minutes.
Peanut Butter Fudge
3 cups white vanilla baking chips
14.5 ounces sweetened condensed milk
½ cup peanut butter
Spray 8-by-8 pan with cooking spray.
Place all ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for one minute. Stir and repeat at one-minute intervals until all ingredients have melted.
Spread in pan. Let sit for at least two hours before serving.
